Don't Dream Bout Ma Man

Don't Dream Bout Ma Man
I told my podna I had a dream bout him
His wife heard me and said don't dream bout ma man
I said nothing but thought wow, I can't have a dream
how you get in this conversation, anyway?
Even MLK had a dream

how you control dreams
tell yo mind no don't dream that shit
what is the world coming to
people wit da flip top box
but my podna
childhood friend
in-law
don't dream bout ma man
wasn't her dream
do I have a right to dream
in my own mind
own space
a vision maybe
a thought to save the pitiful world
pitiful people like you
why save souls like you
need to recycle yo ass into aluminum cans
what if I dreamed yo man was saving the world
don't dream bout ma man
what if I dreamed yo man was uplifting humanity
don't dream bout ma man
what if I dreamed yo man was a prophet
don't dream bout ma man
ignut bitch
kiss ma ass.

The funny thing is that I already knew

The funny thing is that I already knew

I am scared of you
yet so in awe of the One Mind that knows all
the sound between the silence and the word
and since you knew what now for my heart
what is your plan
to string me along
i go willingly
yes i am sprung on you
it is the wish of a lifetime
the dream of poet mind
to have someone who understands without talk
only a glance of the eye
a holding of the hand
a sweet kiss
what is better than this
to read the mind in love
to love the mind that loves you
knowing steel sharpens steel
when equals come together the earth is moved
so rare these days
it is beyond age
this wisdom thing
you either got it or don't
unless you a seeker
but seekers find what they seek
in the right places
when the student is ready, you have heard
the teacher appears
and yet the teacher
always learns from the student

The funny thing is that I already knew
you are simply too much
in all my travels
no one like you
one of a kind
a sweet blessing in my midst
who came to claim a poet's dream
the master teacher
and yet he is in awe
of his student
what wonder is this
when I see you coming toward me
a wind surrounds you
swirling swirling
a dance of the dervishes accompany your stride
the wind blows you to me
my arms open wide to enfold the greatness of your spirit
I am here at your pleasure
do with me as you wish
no abuse please.
Yet I have no fear of this
I know you already know this.

Ah, the air is so fresh
we must go to the ocean soon
I want to walk on the shore
barefoot in the sand as the tide comes upon us
holding hands in the wind
as the dervish dance and swirl.

I am a revolutionary

Before man black

Muslim

Husband

Lover

Father

I am a revolutionary I am a Revolutionary

revolution or death

Whatever comes first

Don’t matter

Test me

Kill me and I shall return

Like Garvey

In the Whirlwind

haunt you

Curse you

Spit in your face

For your decadence

putrid life style

Of nothingness and dread

a stunted man woman child

Too pitiful to stand erect

Homo erectus

You rather slither snake like

Before Pharaoh and his magicians

Not me

Take me to your dungeons

Where humanity lives

brothers finally come together in unity

the black hole of Santa Rita County Jail

they show love for each other

they read and share all they have

zoo zoos and wham whams

gourmet meals they cook and beg you to eat

precious food they starve for each day

Spending the day searching cooking sharing

Raman noodles and Doritos into casserole

Divided shared for all

the black hole

you must shower your funk or die

They knew me

Passed me on the street selling books

Said they were high priced too

So I knew they passed by

I am a revolutionary

I teach in jail

Like on the street

no difference

A punk out here is a punk in there

A warrior here is a warrior in the dungeon

I am a revolutionary

I stand on the shoulders of George, Eldridge, Huey,

Booker, Alonzo Batin

Douimbia

Aaron Ali

Ali Sharif Bey

Brother Edward who raised the college generation single handed

Men unknown who stood up to the beast at every turn

I am a revolutionary

I fear nothing

Want nothing from you

Your money your women your drugs

Nothing

You cannot buy me

I am not for sell

You sold the last negro long ago

I am not the one

I am a revolutionary

Only warrior women can stand beside me

Women in the tradition of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells, Mae Mallory, Fannie Lou Hamer, Queen Mother Moore, Ella Collins, Clara Muhammad, Betty Shabazz, Angela Davis

Stand with me warrior women

To the death or to the life

I am a revolutionary

I bring forth a new world order

With the consent of the governed

No dictatorship

No presidents for life

Kings

Prime ministers for life

No tribal domination

No religiosity

Only plain truth

Simple for a child to understand

No pyramid scheme

No trickle down Voodoo economics

Let power trickle up

Bottom rail top

Revolution

I am a revolutionary

I am beyond your tricks and games

Your slimy schemes and dreams

Of delay postponement pseudo stability

No delay

No stalling

Up against the wall motherfucker

Baraka said

This is revolution

I am a revolutionary.

Do You Want to See Me Tomorrow

Do You Want to See Me Tomorrow?
No, I don't want to see you tomorrow
but every day of my life
until the last breath
I want to look upon your regal self
young shaman lady
your mother's daughter
did I say that right?
I want to gaze into your sweet soul
so ancient so new
I want to hear your wisdom poetry
letters to characters of your imagination
evolving from childhood to now
No, I don't want to see you tomorrow
but every day of my life
is this possible
no matter
you asked
so I tell you no lie
it may be impossible
an old man's dream
yet let me imagine
let me dwell on the wonder of you
that busy mind so much like my own
in constant thought
a dream like state

but coming to reality
it may be that you will come one day to say
I have come to stay
forever.
and I will say are you sure?
And you will say again
I have come to stay forever.
but if you come to stay only for a moment
I will say that is fine with me
for life is but a moment
a moment can be eternity
for sure let us enjoy these precious times
getting to know you is a book unraveling
we write together
this book of love
full of joy and laughter
No, I do not want to see you tomorrow
but the next thousand nights
and tomorrows into the sun and moon
until the sand empties the hour glass
and begins again forever and ever.
